Custom Boathouse Construction in Muskoka

Built for Muskoka's Lakes and Regulations

A boathouse is more than storage — it's a defining feature of a Muskoka waterfront property. At Aster & Spruce Living, we design and build custom boathouses that are engineered for Muskoka's lake conditions, compliant with Muskoka District Municipality and Conservation Authority shoreline regulations, and finished to the same standard as the cottages they serve. We build wet-slip, dry-storage, and hybrid configurations — from a single-slip open boathouse to a fully finished two-storey structure with sleeping loft.

Boathouse Types We Build

Wet-slip boathouses with floating dock systems. Dry-storage boathouses with mechanical lifts. Hybrid designs with covered slip and upper-level storage or living space. Open-frame boathouses for seasonal use. Two-storey boathouses with sleeping loft or studio above. All structures are designed with proper crib, pile, or floating foundation systems appropriate to water depth and ice conditions on your specific lake.

Our Process

Every boathouse project begins with a site visit and shoreline assessment. We review the applicable Conservation Authority permits and Muskoka District building permit requirements before a single design decision is made. Once permits are secured, we manage the full build — foundation, framing, roofing, exterior cladding, and interior finishing if required — with Theresa available for design consultation on finishes, colours, and hardware. All boathouse construction comes with our 2-year workmanship warranty.
