Muskoka’s New Age Classic
Built with the cottage’s original construction, this laundry room is a testament to enduring craftsmanship. Two and a half decades later, its cabinetry and flooring remain as solid as the day they were installed. A careful repaint in Simply White brightened the space, proving that not every update requires replacement. This project celebrates longevity, restraint, and the character of Muskoka heritage.
Project Overview
This laundry room transformation at a private cottage on Lake Joseph is a study in restraint and precision. The brief was simple: create a clean, functional utility space that felt elevated rather than purely utilitarian — one that matched the refined aesthetic of the broader cottage renovation. Theresa specified a palette built entirely around Benjamin Moore White Dove, applied throughout the cabinetry, trim, walls, and ceiling to create a seamless, spa-like finish. Every surface was properly prepped, primed, and finished with low-VOC paint to maintain healthy indoor air quality in a year-round living environment.
Scope of Work
Full room preparation including surface repair, skim coating, and priming. Custom cabinetry painting using Benjamin Moore Advance waterborne alkyd for a hard, furniture-quality finish. Ceiling, wall, and trim painting in coordinated tones. Installation of custom hardware selected by Theresa to complement the white palette. Final protective topcoat application for durability in a high-humidity laundry environment.
Location
Lake Joseph, Muskoka District, Ontario.
